Moose Crossing Signs Degrees North

It's a Beautiful Day for Adventure

Ship Manitoulin Island
I'm finally getting the chance to write. I know it hasn't been that long, but I have done so much! The driving hasn't been too bad, but I have made a few long days. The scenery for the most part has been spectacular, and I think I may have even caught a glimpse of a bear! In the last few days, I have made my way to Sudbury, and I have toured around the lovely Manitoulin Island.

More than Just a Big Nickel

As (almost) any tourist would, I stopped in at The Big Nickel while visiting Sudbury. However, this stop was more than just glancing at the nickel. I decided to tour around Dynamic Earth, which included a really cool tour where you went underground into a mock mine to learn about the history of mining, and gain an understanding about how mines work. Now, the mock mine is built the same way as a real mine, but it was not built for mining purposes.

I also went to Science North, which in a sense, is a smaller version of the Ontario Science Centre. They had some pretty cool exhibits, some in which included live creatures.

Science North was built so the windows go around the rocks
which means some rocks are inside

Manitoulin Island

My drive around Manitoulin Island was awesome. I had a waterfront campsite, with a fantastic sunset, and an even better sunrise. A morning swim at the beautiful Providence Bay, a stroll to Bridal veil Falls, and of course, my favourite part: a hike up Cup and Saucer Trail. This was probably one of the most challenging hikes I have done, but it has also has some of the most fantastic views.  Living in Southwestern Ontario, it is really easy to forget just how stunning our province can be. If you ever find yourself on Manitoulin Island, be sure to check out the Cup and Saucer Trail, the challenge of the hike is more than worth it.

Until next time,

ps. I will try to upload more photos from the Cup and Saucer Trail later!
